Huntsville Madison County Historical Society

Date:

Sunday, September 8, 2019

Description:

For the last two years, the Huntsville-Madison County Historical Society has been celebrating the bicentennial of Alabama’s journey from territory to statehood with a series of talks on the “greatest hits” of local history. Now, for its September meeting, the Society reaches the story that’s the occasion for the celebration – the 1819 constitutional convention in Huntsville that led to Alabama becoming a state, and the future Rocket City being its first capital. The story will be told in a way you’ve never heard it before by the society’s own Jacque Reeves, author of Hidden History of North Alabama and Murder in Dixie.
