Tales of perseverance from the fastest person to hike the Appalachian Trail!
Randolph PARENTS+, in partnership with Alabama Outdoors and The Land Trust of North Alabama, invite the community to meet Appalachian Trail endurance hiker and 2012 National Geographic Adventurer of the Year Jennifer Pharr Davis.
Davis, author of Becoming Odyssa and Called Again, has hiked over 12,000 miles on six continents. In 2011, she was named the "AT Performer of the Year" by Ultra Running Magazine, hiking the 2,181 miles in 46 days. She set the record for being the fastest person ever to hike the Trail, for which she has been featured in the New York Times and the Washington Post and espnW, and has appeared on NPR's Talk of the Nation and the CBS Morning Show.
On January 13, Davis will share her stories of perseverance and resilience with students in each of Randolph's divisions, and that evening, she will speak with parents and members of the wider community.
Join us in the Lecture Hall of the Nichols Academic Building, Garth Campus, for a reception at 6:30 p.m. Program begins at 7 p.m.
