Rolling Course: Woodblock & Etching

We are excited to announce our Rolling Courses! We are now offering long-term printmaking classes throughout the calendar year. Classes are held on a weekly basis, covering a range of media and skills. Our classroom environment is welcoming and encouraging, perfect for beginners or those who are looking to hone their skills and establish a regular art practice. Classes are held in our new Studio 150 at Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment, a large, open space that allows plenty of room for social distancing and air flow while learning and working. Woodblock & Etching is a new instructor-led course by GPP Member and Artist of the Year, Kailey Mackenzie. Over the course of 9 months, consisting of 34 total weekly sessions, students will learn the following: Traditional Chinese Woodblock Method for both reduction and multiple block printing Woodblock carving tools and methods Preparing paper for both woodblocks and etchings Editioning prints Preparing, etching, and printing copper plates, including line etch and aquatint Numbering and assigning etching prints How to trim, number and sign both woodblock and etching prints Building a portfolio How to talk about work
