It’s all about Amadeus this evening, as the HSO and the Huntsville Community Chorus present two of Mozart’s most breathtaking masterworks February 16 at 7:30 PM. A church service in Salzburg saw the premiere of the C Minor Mass through which the young maestro introduced his wife Constanze, a fine soprano, to the hometown crowd. Though the piece remained unfinished, it has nonetheless earned the epithet “Great” as a lasting cornerstone of the sacred repertoire. It’s one of the few pieces robust enough to follow the “Jupiter” Symphony No. 41 – Mozart’s final contribution to the genre, renowned for its Jovian scale, boundless energy, and grand finale.
