Might Makes "Rite" Stunning End to HSO Season

Thursday, April 20, 2017

At its premiere in May of 1913, the ballet set to the score of Stravinsky's "The Rite of Spring" caused a near riot in the theatre in which it was performed. More than 100 years later, people are still talking about it, and the score is no less thrilling. This Saturday, (4/22) the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra concludes its 62nd season with this electrifying work. Also on the program are Ravel's charming Alborada del Gracioso and Szymanowski's ethereal violin concerto played by guest violinist Phillipe Quint. Maestro Gregory Vajda joined Ginny Kennedy in a lively conversation about the concert and tell us how it feels to conduct such a powerful and groundbreaking work.
