Brass, Reeds, and Percussion (March 4, 2017)

On Brass, Reeds, and Percussion during the past 6 months or so, you may have noticed a great deal of of German or Austrian music, performed by German or Austrian bands. That’s because I’ve finally cracked the code to finding music from Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, and other countries in eastern Europe. In any event, I’m pleased that I have encountered the music of the Hofbrauhaus Festkapelle. Translated, that means they’re a windband that plays in a beer hall in Munich. More intringuing, they have recorded a musical oddity—a polka in a minor key: "A Molliger Bua."
