Radio Program Producer

Interested in being a part of Alabama’s first public radio station? WLRH 89.3 FM/HD in Huntsville, Alabama is seeking a full-time Radio Program Producer.  Are you a creative thinker? Responsibilities for this position include creating content for daily broadcasts, such as feature reports and interviews. This position also serves as the local host of All Things Considered, Morning Edition, and other programs as needed. You’ll also participate in fund-raising activities, including fund drives, open houses, and station events.

Qualifications include high school diploma or GED and six (6) months of experience in a commercial or non-commercial broadcasting, print or online media outlet. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required. Experience at a public radio station is desirable.  Good computer skills are essential. Experience with Adobe Audition, Microsoft Suite, as well as broadcast automation and traffic software such as Allegiance and OpX, is desired.

WLRH is Alabama's first public radio station with deep ties to arts and culture in North Alabama and the Tennessee Valley. We cover a service area roughly 60 miles in all directions from our transmitter on Monte Sano Mountain, including north central Alabama and south central Tennessee.  Our main signal offers a mix of music, news, and variety programs offered by National Public Radio, American Public Media, Public Radio International, and more. WLRH also broadcasts three HD channelsHD1 is a digital version of the main WLRH signal. HD2 is a 24-hour classical music service. HD3 provides the most diverse news and talk programming in Alabama.

WLRH is the sister radio station to Alabama Public Television.  APTV is the nation's first public broadcasting network and is nationally recognized as a leader in education.
