Monarch Tag and Release at the Garden

Date:

Saturday, September 24, 2022

Description:

Each year, monarch butterflies take an incredible journey from Canada to Mexico as they seek warmer temperatures to roost over the winter months. These seemingly delicate creatures fly feverishly on pre-determined migration paths, making quick stops along the way. As part of their journey, monarchs migrate through Huntsville, Alabama, from September through mid-October. On September 24, we will be "tagging" 100 monarch butterflies (putting a tiny sticker on their dorsal wings,) and then releasing them into the Huntsville Botanical Garden.
