The Readers Reaching Out series of programs go beyond the traditional book club with a nature themed event and a community service day at our local Land Trust Trail! At the Monrovia Library, Thursday March 17, at 4 PM, the book club features "The Bug Club," by Elise Gravel, for children grades 1-5. We will discuss Gravel's book and make a bug themed craft! At Monrovia Library, Thursday, April 21, at 4 PM, author and naturalist Heather L. Montgomery will talk about her books: "What's In Your Pocket" and "Bugs Don't Hug." She will lead the group in a hands-on science activity and give pointers for further scientific exploration. This program was made possible by the Land Trust of North Alabama. And on Saturday, May 21, the Land Trust of North Alabama: Harvest Square Nature Preserve in Harvest, from 9 AM to noon, you can join us for a trail clean up day at our local Land Trust trail! You'll want to wear comfortable clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty, work gloves (if you have them), sunscreen, bug spray and sturdy shoes.
