Women Honoring Women (WHW) recognizes prominent women in our community who have created a legacy and are serving as an inspiration to others. Through the inspirational WHW celebration, the WEDC Foundation honors our community's women leaders of today while our sponsors support the creation of women leaders of tomorrow.
The 23rd annual Women Honoring Women awards dinner is Thursday September 19th, 2024 at the VBC's Saturn Ballroom. Reservations are full. Doors open at 5pm. Dinner begins at 6pm. Cocktail attire required.
This year's honorees are co-owner at chief chocolatier at Pizzelle’s Chocolates Michelle Novosel, president of the North Alabama Veterans & Fraternal Organizations Coalition KC Bertling, TVA senior program manager Ruchi Gupta Singhal, Huntsville City Schools Compliance and Policy Officer Ina Wilson Smith and Huntsville attorney Joann Perez.

The Huntsville Traditional Music Association will have a coffeehouse event on Thursday, September 19th, 6:30 at Lowe Mill, studio space 1038, Door 4, The featured performers will be The Furies. The Legacy of the Invisible celebratory event is re-scheduled for Friday, September 20th, at 6:30pm at the corner of Clinton Ave. and Washington St. in downtown Huntsville. The program will feature remarks from NASA scientists and Arts Huntsville, offering insights into the artwork's inspiration and significance. Attendees will also have the opportunity to meet the artist, Float, whose creativity brings science to life through his art.

It's art with a view! Monte Sano Art Festival returns to beautiful Monte Sano State Park this September 21st and 22nd. Presented by Arts Huntsville, Monte Sano Art Festival will feature artists from across the Tennessee Valley and beyond, local food trucks, and live music. There’s no cost to attend, but there is a parking fee.

The 40th Annual All You Can Eat Century Bicycle Ride rolls out Saturday, September 21st, 7:30 am. We’ll cycle through the quiet farmland of north Madison County and the serene winding, hilly roads of middle Tennessee. Post ride, you can relax with a well-earned catered meal.
Proceeds benefit Huntsville Urban Bike Share Coop, the Alabama Bicycle Coalition, local high school mountain bike teams and the Spring City Cycling Club.

Celebrate some of the Tennessee Valley's best young musicians in a family-friendly day of marching fun watching premier bands compete for the title of Rocket City Grand Champion! This showcase features a day of music and marching entertainment with local competition bands, tasty concessions, and a chance to vote for your favorite group! Bands compete to be named the Rocket City Grand Champion! There is no charge for admission for spectators. The public is invited to attend.
BANDS: The Rocket City Marching Invitational will be a prelims/finals event and provide a great opportunity for your band to be assessed by experienced judges who are well-versed in the marching arts. Hosted by Bob Jones Bands.

BUDS, or Bringing Up Down Syndrome, will host our 22nd annual Rocket City Buddy Walk Saturday, September 21st from 10am until 2pm at Columbia Elementary in Madison. The primary goal of our Buddy Walk is to promote acceptance and inclusion. It also helps us to continue our efforts in supporting and educating families about Down syndrome. The public is invited.

Land Trust of North Alabama invites you to enjoy dinner and dancing among the limestone walls at the Moon Over Three Caves Dance on Saturday, September 21st. Proceeds from this unique celebration, featuring dinner and live music from the Dawn Osborne Band, help preserve our area’s cherished natural lands. The Madison Police Department will offer no cost rape, aggression, Defense, or RAD self- defense classes for women in September. The RAD classes focus on awareness, prevention and risk reduction as well as some hands-on defense techniques. The courses are available to women ages 12 and older from September 23rd to 25th. Participants will receive a workbook and reference manual outlining the entire program. Click here for more information.

Benefiting the ten branches of the Huntsville-Madison County Public Library, Vive will be held on Wednesday, September 25, beginning at 6:00 p.m. at the Jackson Center.
