The North Alabama Country Dance Society holds contra dances with caller and live music on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month. Newcomers workshop at 6:30 and dance at 7:00-10:00 pm.

Veterans Day Parade and Events of North Alabama is expanding its annual Veterans Day Parade (11/11/24 11am) into a day long event. That includes a special performance by the United States Army Field Band-Jazz Ambassadors Ensemble at the VBC Mark C. Smith Concert Hall on Sunday, November 10th at 2 p.m. The Jazz Ambassadors will present This We Will Defend concert live coordinated with a video presentation. The Jazz Ambassadors will be touring the United States and has selected Huntsville, Alabama as one of its stops. Reservations are required.

Veterans Day Parade and Events of North Alabama is hosting a series of events honoring Veterans Day, including a breakfast and parade through downtown Huntsville.
You can reserve a table for the Veterans Day Breakfast as part of the Veterans Week celebrations. Meet this year's honored guests from WWII and the Korean War and visit with veterans who have served and are actively serving today. The breakfast is Monday, November 11th 2024. Doors open at 8:15 am. Social hour from 8:30 - 9 am. Breakfast & Program 9 - 10 am.
At 10am in front of Veterans Memorial Park in downtown Huntsville, the 60-piece Huntsville Concert Band performs patriotic favorites for the gathering parade crowds. Swing dance in the street to the tunes of the Big Bands as we celebrate the 80th anniversary of the landings in Normandy, France on "D" Day.
The Veterans Day Parade is from 11am to 1pm. Find your favorite spot along the new and beautiful Veterans Day Parade route. Plan on spending pre-parade time at the Monroe Street pre-parade show or strolling around Big Spring Park before the parade begins. Enjoy the parade from any location along the marching route, and plan to stay for the displays and the festivities in Big Spring Park after the parade passes your location.

Alabama Public Television, WLRH 89.3 FM/HD Huntsville, and the U.S. Space & Rocket Center are hosting a special preview screening of excerpts from Ken Burns’ Newest documentary, Leonardo da Vinci, on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at 6pm. This special event is free and open to the public, but seating is limited.

The 4-hour film, which premieres statewide November 18-19, 2024, on Alabama Public Television, tells the story of Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci, best known as Leonardo da Vinci, a 15th Century Italian polymath of soaring imagination and profound intellect, who left behind artistic works of staggering beauty and detailed sketches of futuristic contraptions of warfare and flight that today are marveled at for their technical ingenuity and foresight. This documentary marks the first time Ken Burns has focused on a non-American historical figure.

The Aeolians, the Oakwood University Singers, and the Huntsville Master Chorale present ‘Come, Ye Saints’ on Friday, November 15th, at 7:00 pm at Trinity United Methodist Church. HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology and Foundation present An Evening with Nobel Laureate Dr. Harold Varmus on Tuesday, November 19th, at 5:30 p.m. at the Jackson Center. Dr. Varmus, former Director of the NIH and National Cancer Institute, will share about his Nobel prize-winning work that changed cancer research around the world.
