It’s time for HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology’s 2025 Double Helix Dash 5-K and one-mile fun run! This annual race takes place Tuesday, April 1st, at 5:30 pm. The race raises funds for HudsonAlpha's childhood genetic disorder research and the Smith Family Clinic for Genomic Medicine. The English Department at UAH will host a festival celebrating writers from across the Southeast on Friday April 4 and Saturday April 5. Featured readers include Susan Tekulve from Converse University and James Braziel from UAB. There will also be a Flash Fiction contest, writing workshops in fiction, poetry and creative non-fiction, and a community reading. All events are open to the public. Mountain Valley Arts Council will host its Spring Concerts in the Park at Errol Allan Park in downtown Guntersville on Thursdays from 6:30 - 8:30 PM starting April 17th and running through May 22nd. There will be music from a variety of North Alabama Bands - JED Eye, Foster, Barefoot Blues, Common Thread, Emily Joseph Band, and Rally Stripe Band. The Huntsville Track Club and the ALS Association will host the David McKannan Memorial 5K run on Saturday, April 26th at 7am. This is a fast, flat course at Ditto Landing and will be followed by a 1 mile fun run at 8am. Proceeds help support the ALS Association's work with ALS families in our community.
