Bob Labbe
Host of Reelin' in the YearsSince 1990, Bob Labbe has been spinning the tunes of yesteryear on his weekly, four-hour live program called "Reelin' In The Years". The program airs Friday nights from 9PM until 1AM on WLRH.
The program is a look at the history of pop music from 1950-1990; the era of the 45-rpm record. Bob has more than 20,000 45-rpm records in his personal collection, which he uses in his travels through four decades of pop music, intertwined with pieces of pop music trivia and interviews with some of the biggest names in pop music history. Include fun contests each week and you have what has become known as the most unique radio program of its kind on public radio.
Beginning in radio straight out of high school here in Huntsville, Bob attended Elkins Institute of Broadcasting in Nashville and home-schooled Columbia School of Broadcasting. He worked as an award winning sportscaster on Channel 31 for many years before leaving television in 1991. He is a freelance writer for numerous publications, including The Madison Record, a local high school basketball referee and is one of the Tennessee Valley's most recognized names and faces.
For his volunteer work as host/producer of the program, Bob has become the local "guru of oldies". Bob takes requests for his program at (888) 330-8989. WLRH streams "Reelin' In The Years" from our homepage of wlrh.org. He's also on Facebook with music videos, trivia contests and more.
