The Update for May 3, 2024

In this episode (#012), we’ll review north Alabama’s top stories, and in the waning days of the legislative session, we’ll hear the latest from the Alabama Statehouse, where it’s live or die for a package of gambling bills. We also visit Ridgecrest Elementary for a history lesson with the Microwave Dave Music Education Foundation and preview Porchfest with a track from Sunroom Revival.

Bob Nance settled in Huntsville before the turn of the century and decided that this was the place to be! He has been a husband, father, physicist, business owner and musician, but most importantly, a member of WLRH since 1996. Working with the family at WLRH is an exciting opportunity to give back to this place we call home.
Ginny Kennedy is a native of Huntsville. She began her radio career as a graduate student in Communications at Georgia State University in Atlanta. An internship at WABE in Atlanta led to a varied career as a classical music host, news anchor, flying traffic reporter, and wacky sidekick on a country station. She has been at WLRH in Huntsville for the past 20 years and feels privileged to be part of a station that serves the community. When not working, Ginny enjoys spending time with her many critters including her horse Alex.
Erich Brukner is the General Manager of WLRH-FM and Division Director of Radio for Alabama Public Television, bringing over 20 years of broadcast leadership to public media. He previously led programming at iHeartMedia Huntsville and most recently served as Director of Marketing for GigaParts.
At WLRH, Katy Ganaway wears many hats- mainly hosting All Things Considered, Morning Edition every Friday, and a WLRH original, Arts Underground. On the WLRH airwaves, you may have heard her community conversations and feature stories, focusing on the human experience. These pieces usually explore topics like art, health, history, education or something whimsical, or... "out there."
WLRH is pleased to announce the recent hire of Marsha Arends in the position of Radio Program Producer. Marsha is a wonderful addition to the WLRH team and we already appreciate her contributions to the station’s mission.
