Capitol Exchange, April 10, 2026
As the 2026 Alabama Legislative Session comes to a close, this week’s Capitol Exchange looks back at a busy few months in Montgomery and ahead to what comes next. The program opens with reflections from the Secretary of the Alabama Senate and the Clerk of the House, who discuss the pace of the session, behind‑the‑scenes operations, and why the opening days of the legislature are often the most energizing.
In the first segment, Capitol Journal host Todd Stacy begins the week with an interview preview focusing on what lawmakers faced during the final days of the session and the priorities still on the agenda as the legislature wrapped up its work.
The second half of the program features conversations with key lawmakers reflecting on both endings and transitions. Senator Bobby Singleton, the Senate Minority Leader representing District 24, discusses the conclusion of the session and preparations for moving into the new State House next year. The program also includes Todd Stacy’s interview with retiring State Representative Jim Hill, longtime chairman of the House Judiciary Committee and former judge, who shares candid thoughts on the current political climate, judicial shortages, and his hopes for the future of Alabama government as he concludes his legislative career.
