Huntsville Sacred Chorale Announces Auditions for Fall Season
Created to fill a unique niche in Huntsville’s thriving arts community, the Huntsville Sacred Chorale brings together experienced singers to perform some of the world’s most celebrated sacred choral music. Designed as a project-based ensemble, the chorale offers musicians the flexibility to rehearse for just a few weeks before each concert, making it possible to participate alongside other choirs and busy schedules.
This fall’s program explores the Book of Psalms through works by Leonard Bernstein, John Rutter, Jake Runestad, William Dawson, and other renowned composers, showcasing a diverse repertoire that spans centuries of sacred music. Founders say the ensemble is dedicated to presenting challenging, inspiring works while making high-level choral performance accessible to singers throughout the Tennessee Valley.
In this episode, Mike Keeley speaks with Dr. Aaron Jackson, co-founder of the Huntsville Sacred Chorale, about the ensemble’s mission, its upcoming auditions on July 19–20, and what prospective singers can expect during the audition process. He also shares details about the choir’s free September concert and the music audiences can look forward to hearing.
