Your Weekly Geek Out Locally Guide!
Geek Out Huntsville shares their top weird and geeky things in the week of June 29 2026 to do in North Alabama on WLRH’s Curiosity Squad and on Tennessee Valley Mornings.
If you’ve ever thought, I wonder if there’s a group in Huntsville that does that, the answer is probably yes. I’m Lauren Jones with Geek Out Huntsville and this is Geek Out Locally on WLRH. This week is all about hobbyists, enthusiasts, makers, readers, and wonderfully curious people who make the Rocket City such an interesting place to live.
The week starts with three very different kinds of geekiness. At lunchtime, AFCEA Huntsville hosts a tech luncheon featuring Seth Farrington, Chief Data and Analytics Officer for Army Aviation and Missile Command. It’s a chance to hear how data, technology, and innovation are shaping the future right here in Huntsville.
And Monday evening, Innerspace Brewing hosts Attack on the Titan trivia. Gather your fellow scouts, titans, and anime fans to see your knowledge can survive the challenge. At GigaParts, a free bird photography workshop explores the art of capturing wildlife through the lens.
Whether you’re chasing hummingbirds, hawks, or that one bird that refuses to sit still, you’ll pick up tips for photographing the natural world. Thursday, July 2nd, the Huntsville Madison County Public Library hosts Pokemon Hour. Expect games, activities, trading, and plenty of opportunities to celebrate one of the world’s most enduring franchises.
And of course, Saturday is Independence Day. Across the Tennessee Valley, we’ll celebrate with festivals, fireworks, and explosions to remind everyone why Huntsville feels right at home in the booms. Plus, in downtown Huntsville, the July 4th parade will take place and Made in the USA EVs are set to be part of it.
With anime trivia, bird photography, and game development, Huntsville continues proving that every hobby eventually finds its fellowship. As always, schedules can shift, so checking details ahead of time never hurts. If your group has an event you’d like to share, you can reach us at info at geekouthuntsville.com. I’m Lauren Jones.
Enjoy the fireworks and remember, around here, rocket science is a local hobby.
