Katy Ganaway
Program Director and Host of Arts Underground
At WLRH, Katy Ganaway serves as program director and host of a WLRH original program, Arts Underground. She also brings listeners community conversations during WLRH’s original morning show, Tennessee Valley Mornings (TVM), focusing on many facets of the human experience. These pieces usually explore art, health, history, education, and more.
Her goal with Arts Underground and her TVM pieces is to give a major platform to the voices of our community who are doing wonderful things and giving back. That may be inviting local historians to share a new, golden nugget of north Alabama history, or spotlighting the incredibly talented folks in Huntsville’s local film, comedy and music scenes.
A little background… Katy graduated in 2014 from Troy University, earning her Bachelor’s in Journalism and a minor in Public Relations. She previously worked for Troy Public Radio, the university’s public radio station, where she began to hone her craft and ate plenty of breakfast burritos, locally hosting NPR’s Weekend Edition and Weekend All Things Considered. Prior to that, she worked in commercial radio, and prior to *that,* she graduated from Bob Jones High School!
