The Curiosity Squad Episode 35 – Conservation and the Paint Rock River

The Roy B Whitaker Paint Rock River Preserve is the oldest Nature Conservancy property in Alabama. After more than twenty years, it has become a model for how to work with landowners to restore watersheds. In this episode we start with an introduction to the overall project – from the grasslands to the river banks to the wildlife, and then we learn about the incredible aquatic biodiversity in the river. We hear from a local landowner who has been partnering with the Nature Conservancy and what the projects are like from his point of view and then we go and explore some of the work that has been done to restore the Paint Rock river banks before finally getting on the river itself.
