Arts Underground: Meet Imin Yeh- Paper Sculptor

Printmaker and sculptor Imin Yeh creates paper structures by hand that, from far away, seem like normal, everyday items. That includes seemingly wooden blocks, rolls of toilet paper, and even a pile of pencil shavings.

Yeh is the 2026 UAH Contemporary Art Fellow and she brought her projects, ‘All in a Line‘ and ‘Everyone’s An Artist! The Dollar General Project‘ to exhibit in UAH’s Wilson Hall Gallery back in March 2026. WLRH’s Katy Ganaway talks with Yeh about her choice to make such intricate, artisan versions of ephemeral items, and how making hundreds of the general stores can be a communal project.

This interview was recorded on March 24, 2026. A shorter version originally aired during Tennessee Valley Mornings on March 26, 2026; the extended version aired during Arts Underground on April 10.
