Madison Hospital Named North Alabama’s First Dementia Friendly Hospital

Madison Hospital recently earned the designation as Alabama’s newest Dementia Friendly Hospital, making it the first hospital in the region with this distinction.

As part of the initiative through Dementia Friendly Alabama, Madison Hospital staff completed specialized dementia training focused on effective communication, compassionate interactions, and creating supportive, dementia-friendly environments throughout the hospital. The training equips the staff with the tools and knowledge needed to better serve people living with dementia, ensuring that their care experience is as comfortable and supportive as possible.

Madison Hospital joins a group of just five other hospitals in Alabama with this status. Dementia Friendly Alabama is dedicated to fostering communities where individuals living with dementia, their caregivers, and care partners can thrive with dignity and respect. The initiative is funded through a grant from the Alabama Department of Senior Services.
