University of North Alabama Joins the United Athletic Conference

College athletics have changed dramatically over the past decade. Conference realignment has reshaped schedules, rivalries, recruiting, and even the national visibility of universities across the country. This month marks a significant milestone for the University of North Alabama, which officially joins the United Athletic Conference, which begins a new chapter in the Lions NCAA Division I athletics. While fans may notice new opponents on the schedule, conference membership often represents much more than that. It can influence recruiting, travel, institutional partnerships, and the overall student-athlete experience.

Joining R.L. on Tennessee Valley Mornings is  Dr. Josh Looney, Director of Athletics at the University of North Alabama, to discuss what this move means for the Lions and for North Alabama. Conference logos may change and schedules may look a little different, but at its heart, college athletics is still about students competing, representing their university, and bringing communities together. As the University of North Alabama begins this new chapter in the United Athletic Conference, it also reflects the continued growth and momentum of higher education across the Tennessee Valley.
