Research discovers new possible treatment for joint injuries
When a joint is injured, the way that the body responds can make a big difference to whether there is long term damage or not. The team led by the University of Alabama in Huntsville have published results showing that low intensity ultrasound coaxes the body’s healing processes into action, leading to faster resolution of the injury and less potential for long term inflammation.
The research needs more validation – a challenge because there are no easy ways to do that using animals or animal models, but the research still has to be tested before human trials could be done.
